Wednesday Weekend Wind-Up: Harvest
As far as restaurant ideas for fall, it's hard to think of one more aptly named than Harvest Bistro & Wine Bar. We shared a margarita and the Baked Goat Cheese to start with. The goat cheese was topped with a delicious tomato jam, and this made for a very satisfying small plate. While I was tempted to try a different entree, the Wild Mushroom Ravioli had been so tasty the first time we went there, we decided to order this again. We ended the meal with a bread pudding for dessert.
On Saturday morning, the first PSL of the season finally came to be [along with this delicious Caramelized Apple Pound Cake].
We stopped at Nordstrom Rack, DSW, and Whole Foods, but left every place empty-handed. We had a much more successful encounter at Americano Burger Bar [AKA the RIGHT burger bar]. Francisco advocated for the Fresh Pretzel & Beer Cheese, which was really good. A touch crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside with a nice balance of salt. The beer cheese was yummy with a good consistency. We tried the Strawberry Shake; this was fine, but it didn't blow me away. At $6.00, it's not something I would order again. We shared the Veggie Burger, which features a housemade farro cannellini bean patty with caramelized onions, brie, tomato, arugula, and mayo. Very, very heavy on the mayo. There were some bites where it felt like you were just ending up with a mouthful of mayonnaise. Other than that, the burger was definitely a step up from your typical vegetarian burger, but I'm not sure if they were over-compensating for a dry patty. These burgers do not come with a side, so we also ordered the Garlic & Rosemary Fries. They were good although they were a touch greasy and Francisco thought they could have used some more salt. Also, there was rosemary and garlic garnish tossed on top of the dish, but the flavors really weren't present in the fries themselves. Service was a touch slow throughout our meal, especially near the end.
We have been exceptionally lazy the last couple weekends by pulling out our extra mattress into the downstairs living room and watching TV on the bed down there. So, that's where you could find us Saturday evening, watching The Shallows.
Americano left us very full, so we just had a light dinner.
We were at least productive enough to whip up a batch of Maple Ice Cream with Salty, Buttered Pecans, which paired nicely with this apple tart. Delicious!
