Dosh| Earning Money from Online Surveys & Shopping Apps

I've been taking online surveys for as long as I can remember. To help track my earnings and cash-outs, I started a spreadsheet in 2007 where I logged my available balance each month for each site. While spending your time taking online surveys won't make you rich, they are a handy way to pad your budget and pick up some spare cash. Plus, they occasionally come with the benefits of hearing about new products before they are released to market - and even getting to try them sometimes!

I will highlight a website below that I've had success in using in the past, along with some details about my experience. Keep in mind that your experience may vary based on demographic data, location, survey availability, etc. 

This is actually a shopping app, but I'm including it in this series because it's a relatively passive way to pick up some spare cash while going about your normal shopping routine.

EXPERIENCE

I've been using Dosh since April 2019. You connect accounts and credit/debit cards to the app, and then you will automatically earn credit when you make an eligible purchase. All the offers are listed when you first open the app. Unfortunately, I rarely go to an eligible store because my balance hasn't budged in the past 5 months. To be fair, Kroger isn't listed, and that's about 90% of our shopping these days. 😁

EARNINGS

I've earned $6.24, but I'll need to hit a minimum of $25 to cash out. 

RECOMMENDATION

Dosh is definitely not a high earner for me, but once you get your credit cards linked, there's no further effort needed. I plan to still keep the app active on my phone. One thing to note is that they did announce recently that they will start applying a "$4.99 monthly Inactive Account Maintenance Fee. Inactive is defined as failing to either complete an eligible transaction or redeem DOSH from your Account in the trailing twelve (12)-month period." This would be deducted from your available balance. So, hopefully, I end up with an eligible purchase before next April!
