Studio Gear's Hydrating CC Cream

A lot of us have already heard of BB creams, multi-tasking Beauty Balms that can be used to replace a variety of beauty products, including serum, moisturizer, primer, foundation and sunblock. CC Creams are still rather new to the field, but they are fairly similar. CC generally stands for Color Correcting, and they help address issues like redness and sallowness to even your skin tone. Studio Gear's Hydrating CC Cream promises to transform and enhance your complexion with an incredibly light and smooth formula. This foundation is touted to fight aging, retain moisture, and cover and treat blemishes with a non-oily finish.

Key Benefits:

  • Prevents fine lines and wrinkles with collagen-building ingredients
  • Restores skin elasticity by promoting moisture retention
  • Brightens and illuminates skin with a non-oily, complete coverage application
About the Company: Studio Gear Cosmetics features a full collection of professional makeup brushes, complexion formulas, and a wide selection of color products for the eyes, cheeks, and lips. Their focus is on the idea that every woman deserves professional, high quality cosmetics at a reasonable price. Customer loyalty is ensured through a lifetime product guarantee.

Studio Gear provided me with the opportunity to try their CC Cream, and I chose the lightest shade (Linen) since my complexion is fairly light.

The notes on the product information indicated that this was a "unique formula using microencapsulated pigments which offer up to 72 hours of hydration". I didn't realize just how unique it was until I actually opened the bottle. This products dispenses as a slightly off-white color cream with black specks. It then turns a normal foundation color once you start rubbing it in.

I did find that even Linen (the lightest shade) seemed a bit dark for me.  It definitely deepened my skin tone but gave me a bit too much of a "fake tan" look. Despite adding color, I found the coverage to still be a bit on the light side. If you have any skin imperfections and generally seek out something that's a little more full coverage, you may want to pair this product with some thing else. I actually used it coupled with the sample of Hanskin Premium Perfect Super Magic BB Cream SPF30 PA++ that came in my March Beauty Bar Sample Society subscription box.  The Hanskin BB cream works to lighten your skin tone, so combining the two products worked out perfectly.

The Hydrating CC Cream retails for $34.00 on their website.
