April 2017 Play! by Sephora Review
The April Sephora Play box featured some make-up essentials designed to help you step your cosmetic game up.
Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream, $8.13 [$52.00 for 1.6 oz; sample size: 0.25 oz]
This is a lightweight moisturizer that feels really silky when applying.
Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment, $12.00 [$24.00 for 0.5 oz; sample size: 0.25 oz]
This exfoliator has a really interesting spicy cinnamony smell. Overall, it had a gentle exfoliating effect and didn't irritate my skin. I rubbed in for about 30 seconds and then let it sit on my skin for 2 minutes before rinsing off.
Smashbox Iconic Photo Finish Foundation Primer, $9.00 [$36.00 for 1 oz; sample size: 0.25 oz]
I used a pea-sized amount of this foundation primer. It smooths on easily, but I'm still struggling to find the right primer for the Kat Von D Lock It Foundation. Because of how drying this foundation is, I found that this primer did work a lot better with it vs. the Dr. Brandt one I normally use.
Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Eye Pencil Waterproof Eyeliner, $5.25 [$21.00 for 0.04 oz; sample size: 0.01 oz]
I was a fan of this eyeliner. It's fairly creamy, so it glides on without much effort and it doesn't smudge.
Sephora Collection Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover, $2.20 [$11.00 for 4.2 oz; sample size: 0.84 oz]
I've actually tried this eye makeup remover as part of the Sephora Great Cleanse collection. It's a gentle remover, and it is okay, but I've definitely tried better. I've found that I much prefer just using something like a coconut oil to take off all my make-up.
Marc Jacobs Daisy, $1.88 [$80.00 for 1.7 oz; sample size: 0.04 oz]
This had strong initial floral notes, and overall, I found it to be a pleasant floral fragrance. Neither me or the husband are big floral fans, but even he found it pleasing. Also, I found it to be super long-lasting - the fragrance was still detectable by the end of the work day!
Total Value: $38.46
Details: Play! by Sephora is a beauty subscription service that features a curation of five deluxe samples plus a bonus fragrance in a collectible bag. The monthly cost is $10.00 + tax. Each box also includes a Play! Pass that you can use to receive 50 extra Beauty Insider points with any in-store purchase.
