Restaurant - er, um - Birthday Week, Day 5
Saturday morning we decided to drive up to Columbus for the day. The weather was blessedly overcast and cool, my favorite weather these days, lol! We started with breakfast at Katalina's, where we were both impressed by the food.
We managed to snag a table inside, but the lighting was not fantastic so I'll spare you pics of blurry food. I did get one okay picture of my delicious Nutella Pancake Balls with veggie sausage. Francisco had the Biscuits & Veggie Sausage Gravy, and his exact words were that it was "absotively, posolutely phenomenal."
We went to Easton Town Center and walked around there for a few hours. It's a fun shopping center with a mix of an indoor shopping mall with other stores scattered around with outside entrances, like an outlet mall. It was so chilly that day, it actually felt like a fall day - not the end of June!
I left with a couple new shirts, a scarf, a necklace, some candles, and probably my favorite item was this limited edition collection from Sephora:
You know how I love my monthly boxes, and these Sephora Favorites collections take that to the next level by offering a variety of tried and tested top-notch brands. I want them all, lol!
Now, one of our first stops when we got to the mall was Jeni's Ice Creams. Their scoop shops had been closed for a while due to a listeria finding, and we were so thrilled to see that they were finally back open for business. Maybe a little TOO thrilled, because *ahem*, we may have gotten ice cream on oh, three separate occasions that day.
Our first - and the star - ice cream selection of the day was the Gooey Butter Sundae, which comes with Brown Butter Almond Brittle Ice Cream, Honey Butterscotch Sauce, and Salty Caramel Sauce.
And then before we were about to head out, we made one more repeat visit to Jeni's for a Cherry Float for the road.
And the road took us downtown to Dirty Frank's Hot Dog Palace. Francisco had The Classy Lady with a veggie sausage - I ended up stealing his, while I ordered Lara's Pittsburgh Princess with a side of Tater Tots with Coney and Cheese sauce.
And finally, because we love it so, we made one final stop at Jeni's hoping for another delicious Gooey Butter Sundae. We stopped at much smaller scoop shop, so we were only able to get an order of Brown Butter Almond Brittle Ice Cream.
It's okay though cuz' we had some Honey Butterscotch Sauce for the road!
