August 2016 GLOSSYBOX Review

GLOSSYBOX usually comes with a folding product card that details all of the items in the box, but this month, there was a stapled booklet included. I like the information presented in this fashion much better - so much easier to flip through, and it reads like a mini-magazine.  As the title on this pamphlet shows, this month's box was centered around the sun-kissed, mid-summer state of mind.

Wella Professionals Oil Reflections Smoothing Oil, $20.00 [Full-size]
I thought this was an oil spray, but it's actually a pump bottle. This hair oil has a rich perfumed fragrance that isn't overpowering. I've used it as a pre-shower conditioning treatment as well as an everyday smoothing treatment.

De Bruyere After Sun Lotion Monoi, $12.00 [Full-size]
This is a very milky lotion with a tropical fragrance. I found it to be moderately moisturizing.

Too Faced Mascara Melt Off Cleansing Oil Waterproof Mascara Dissolver, $2.96 [$17.00 for 0.23 oz; sample size: 0.04 oz]
At first glance, I thought this was mascara, but it's actually a mascara remover. You coat your lashes and leave the product on for about one minute before wiping away.  I found it to be okay at removing mascara, but the results were similar to if I just used a regular make-up-removing oil. With each application, I ended up spattering droplets of the oil onto my mirror, so I always had to wipe down the mirror after applying.

I just don't understand. This looks like something for children - maybe because of the bubble gum pink color. Anything with rubber just tends to snag in my long, unruly hair.

Trifle Cosmetics Lip Parfait Buttery Lip Cream, $19.00 [Full-size]
I received this lip treatment/lip stick in the shade 'Guilty Pug'. It does feel more nourishing than just a basic lipstick. It smells a bit fruity, but I didn't love the color. I was pleased that it wasn't red, but it was a tan shade that leaned orange. It just wasn't a great complement to my coloring.

Borghese Body Refining Polish, $3.06 [$49.00 for 8 oz; sample size: 0.5 oz]
This was a dense, lightly exfoliating product that turns into a light lather with a rich fragrance. The sample looks larger than it is, but it only contained enough product for approximately three uses.
