Fall Trip 2013, Day 2 - Myrtle Beach, SC
Nothing beats a Super 8 Superstart Breakfast, right? Eh, at least there's coffee.
Back on the road...
it wasn't too long before we pulled up at Broadway at the Beach, a pretty quaint shopping and activity center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Honestly, I had been up too much of the night battling a monster migraine. I think I might have gotten too much sun with all the time spent in the car the day before. We had decided to take the day slow and see if it might be a better idea to turn back already. I was determined to avoid that at all costs, so we hit up a CVS for some Bayer Migraine pain reliever and tried to make the most of our day.
Caffeine was high priority so our first stop ended up being at the Kiss Coffeehouse.
Home of theWorld Famous Rockuccino! No way I could pass that up. :)
We had a light lunch at Senor Frogs - the first and only other time we've been there was in Puerto Rico, and that was about 5 years ago at this point. We just shared an appetizer and a beverage. Our drink of choice was called the Frog Buster, and it came with vodka, rum, gin, tequila, amaretto, orange juice, grenadine, and red wine. Perfect lunch cocktail, LOL! ;-)
After lunch, we did some more shopping - there were a lot of little shops. Definitely very touristy though, but I am perfectly fine with that!
A final stop for ice cream at Ben & Jerry's and then it was back on the road to go find the beach.
We found that there were several public access points off the street, so we found a place to park and walked on over.
You could see down the beach from where we were that it was a more developed area - we drove down there later but didn't explore it too much.
It was a gorgeous, hot, sunny day, and I'm glad we made it back to South Carolina!
After the beach, we began making our way toward North Carolina and stopped at a Bojangles for some road food. Not sure what was up with the random chicken restaurants on this trip! At least we tried the biscuits which is what they're half-famous for.
We ended up bunking down in Jacksonville, NC - we grabbed dinner at Forkful, where you can select all of the ingredients you want in your dish. Probably the healthiest meal we had during the whole trip!
