Wednesday Weekends Recap

Francisco has been deathly ill for the past week AND he got called into work on Saturday. So, I spent most of the day at home with these two bird-watchers.
This little troublemaker was about to drive me insane. He may be cute, but he's very mischievous.
Saturday was actually Sweetest Day, so Francisco presented me with this Kate Spade necklace I had been seriously eyeballing at Nordstrom Rack. [Okay, he actually had no idea it was Sweetest Day until I reminded him and our weekend plans had completely changed, so this was just a little trinket he had stashed away for a future occasion.]
By last weekend, we had all of our fall decor out. A lot of it is old stuff, but we did get a new jar candle holder [middle pic] along with a delicious-smelling candle (Pumpkin Pecan Waffles). Also, the last pic includes one of the throw pillows (the one with the leaves) we picked up from Gordman's recently. So excited that they've FINALLY opened in Cincinnati; Gordman's was my favorite store ever back when we lived in West Lafayette.
The candle and candle holder we actually got from a trip that weekend to Tanger Outlets
The outlet mall was actually our last stop of a long day where we had driven out to Columbus. Without fail, Columbus means we're eating at Melt Bar and Grilled. Because it's pretty much the best food ever. We started with the Wild Tofu Wings and we also had a side of the Roasted Brussels Sprouts. I really wanted the Worms & Dirt Bread Pudding [bottom, middle], but I ended up being disappointed. It was more like a cake, not bread. Somehow, we saved enough room for Jeni's Ice Cream later in the day. Again, no trip to Columbus is complete without them as well. But anyways, you see that sign in the middle of the collage below? Let's talk about that.
Melt always features monthly specials, and the Winner Winner Chicken Dinner sounded a-flipping-mazing. Fried Chicken, Sweet Corn Puree, Garlic Sauteed Greens, Scalloped Potatoes, and Sharp Cheddar Cheese [nearly everything here is available in a vegetarian version]. It was so delicious, and a picture doesn't even begin to do it justice. We ordered this sandwich and the Backyard BBQ Grilled Cheese. They were both supposed to be half-orders, but our order came out wrong, which means we had two whole, huge sandwiches and lots of leftovers. Which isn't exactly a bad thing. :P
Oh, and the weekend before that we had a pretty tasty - and almost healthy - lunch from Seasons 52. I had never been there before, but we were in the area, debating where to eat, and I spotted this place and remembered hearing good things about it. The Pumpkin Pisco Sour was interesting; even though I willingly ordered it, I expected to kind of hate it, but it wasn't that bad actually. We had the Autumn Vegetarian Tasting, the Trio of Roasted Mushrooms Flatbread, Tamale Tots, and a selection of desserts. It sounds like a lot, but it was all fairly light. I know they're a larger chain, and I try to stick with the local offerings, but this place was really good!
