July 2014 Beauty Bar Sample Society
Sample Society is a beauty subscription box that includes five deluxe-sized samples from the world's best luxury brands. For $15.00 monthly, you will be able to sample these deluxe brands and you will likely find that the value of the products received is twice what you paid (or more!). You will also receive $10 to redeem on a $50 purchase at BeautyBar.com. If you are thinking of trying out Sample Society, please use this unique code, RXCK109088, at the Beauty Bar website, which will give me referral credit.
As I mentioned in last month's review, Sample Society was scheduled to receive a makeover in July. This month's selection came in a glossy red box as opposed to the normal black box, and the mix of products did seem to be thoughtfully selected. While they had stopped including specific information about the products in recent boxes, they brought this back in the form of the Allure mini-magazine. The mini-mag has always been included, but before it featured seemingly random beauty articles, and now each page is dedicated to one of each of the featured products.
L'Oreal Paris Extraordinaire ColourRiche Lipcolour, Sample Value: $9.99 [Full-size]
This lip gloss smells really nice, and the coral color is very bright but still wearable. It's a long-lasting gloss that even saw me through my morning coffee habit. It wasn't sticky either, so all around, a very good lip gloss.
Butter London Nail Lacquer, Champers, $15.00 [Full-size]
I've always found that Butter London polishes pretty consistently have a good formula. The formula for Champers was good, but I did two coats, and metallic polishes have a way of streaking some if your first coat isn't dry enough.
The color was nice - the picture on the bottom is more color-accurate. The morning sun really warmed up the color in the top pic.
Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder, Highlight-01, ~$8.30
This may be the first highlighter I've used that I've actually liked. It goes on lightly, and I used it to accent my cheekbones and the inner corners of my eyes.
Fekkai PrX Reparatives Hair Mask, $7.99 [Full-size sample]
I really liked this hair mask. It smelled really good, and it did seem to make my hair feel extra smooth and soft.
Maison Francis Kurkdjian Aqua Universalis Eau de Toilette, ?
This perfume was a mix of floral and citrus scents. I liked it, but it seemed to have mostly faded come lunchtime.
Total Value: >$41.28
This was the first month of the newly redesigned Sample Society box, so I am curious to see what next month's box looks like. Overall, I really enjoyed the July box. Please remember to use this unique code, RXCK109088, at the Beauty Bar website if you decide to give 'em a try. I'd say they're definitely worth checking out for a small, luxurious indulgence!
